I. The development of root canal treatment Although the treatment of periodontal disease of the pulp has a long history, root canal treatment is one of the youngest professional disciplines in dentistry.
Grossman divided the history of root canal treatment from 1776 to 1976 into four phases:
1776-1826: The leeches treat the abscess teeth, burn the pulp with red-hot wire, and fill the root canal with gold foil.
1826-1876: General anesthesia, rubber plaque, the appearance of gutta-percha, the original broaching needle and root canal, and arsenic used to kill the pulp.
1876-1926: X-ray invention, application of local anesthesia, application of root canal disinfection (CMCP).
1926-1976: X-ray, local anesthesia and root canal treatment methods gradually improved. The widespread use of Ca(OH)2 EDTA formulations has led to a gradual reduction in the use of arsenic and silver needles.
