Explore the canal using small-sized hand files
In the presence of NaOCI, along the glide path, with the MTF Plus x1( 017/04)
Use MTF Plus X2 ( 025/06 ), exactly as described for MTF Plus X1 file, until working length is reached
Gauge the foramen with a size 025 hand file and if this file is snug at length, the canal is shaped and ready for disinfection
If the size 25 hand files is loose at length, then continue shaping with the MTF Plus X3 ( 030/07)
The Clinician must have a knowledge about files , kinematics & metallurgy and to choose the best set for every situation , RE-TREATY kit presents an excellent option for every day retreatment situations
Retreaty Files are state-of-the-art kit developed for endodontic retreatment, where the goal is to correct, replace, or improve prior root canal work. These instruments allow practitioners to effectively remove old canal materials such as sealants, gutta-percha, or other obstructions.
Achieving glide path in retreatments by removing safely the gutta percha and sealer from within the root canal is always a difficult step. The instruments used in endodontic retreatments have to meet many requirements that enables the cli...
Retreat, do it better and be successful! It should be the daily moth for the endodontist who wants to preserve at maximum level the tooth in place. Unfortunately a retreatment can be compromised by obstacles inside canal like metal posts...
The success of endodontic treatment hinges on a comprehensive understanding of the root canal system of each tooth, including the potential presence of extra canals. Essential to the success of endodontic therapy are thorough cleaning, sh...
The primary objective in endodontics, whether primary treatment or retreatments, is the treatment of apical periodontitis as well as prevention of its recurrence. When we address retreatments, incomplete disinfection of the root canal system is considered as one of the most common causes of post treatment failures. This article will discuss non-surgical retreatment of a mandibular second molar, with a C-Shaped morphology, presented with symptomatic apical periodontitis. The RETREATY kit was among the fore players that were used for successful management of the root canal system, disassembly of the existing root canal filling and reshaping of the root canals.
The primary goal of an endodontic treatment is to access, shape and clean the intricate anatomy in a way that allows efficient 3 D filling of the root canal system, while leaving the tooth with the sufficient sound tissue for granting perfect coronal seal and a long term function. But in case of failure, the primary goal of a retreatments remains the same and about re-shaping the dilemma is always: did I shape enough? How much should I enlarge apical diameter and taper? How can I avoid apical debris extrusion.
The field of endodontic retreatment is wide and the cases are variable according to the mishaps included. This article will deal with a short filling which was condensed despite having an apical blockage.
The patient came to my office with a big swelling and acute pain , after the pre-op X-ray the situation was clear , apical periodontitis plus a lateral lesion . The previous endodontic treatment is short and we have a perforation on middle one third of the root located on the distal aspect of the root , the original anatomy is really tricky due to the double curvature reason of the failure .
Single file instrumentation has to some extent ease the root canal preparation in both primary root canal treatments and retreatments. However, the variety of clinical situations does not agree with the optimistic approach of having one instrument to fit all circumstances. All clinicians should carefully conduct their preoperative assessment as well as their constant intraoperative analyses since the ideal approach must be particularly tailored for every tooth treated. Even though saving time seems to be an important factor nowadays, saving tissue, minimising risks and adapting tools and skills to clinical situations and not vice-versa must be the right attitude when it comes to medical procedures, including Endodontics.
